I said: In the narration of al-Marwazī, there is an important benefit, which is the clarification that the man who was not named by al-Bayhaqī is actually Ibn Mughaffal, the Companion, and his name is ʿAbd Allāh. I had leaned towards favoring that he was a Companion in what I had annotated on "Subul al-Salām" (2/26) during its teaching at the "Islamic University" before I came across this explicit narration on the matter, so all praise is due to Allāh for His guidance. It was also reported by al-Tirmidhī from the ḥadīth of ʿAlī and Muʿādh in a similar manner. Its isnād is weak but is strengthened by this narration of Ibn Mughaffal. I have found a supporting witness for it from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Azhar, raised with the wording: "When you come to prayer and we are in prostration, then prostrate and do not count it as anything, and whoever catches the rakʿah has caught the prayer." It was narrated by Ibn Mandah in "al-Maʿrifah" (2/16/2) from Jaʿfar ibn Rabīʿah from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Sāʾib from ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Azhar, who reported it from his father that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is weak. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Azhar is a minor Companion, and his son ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Azhar was mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (13/1/15) only from the narration of Jaʿfar ibn Rabīʿah, without any mention of criticism or praise. And ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Sāʾib, I did not find a biography for him. And Jaʿfar ibn Rabīʿah, who is Egyptian, is trustworthy and from the narrators of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim]. Among what supports and strengthens the ḥadīth is the practice of the senior Companions with it, like Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq, Zayd ibn Thābit, and Ibn Masʿūd, and its extraction has been previously mentioned under ḥadīth (229), so refer to it.

"When a man comes to a people and they say 'Welcome,' then welcome to him on the day he meets his Lord. And when a man comes to a people and they say to him 'Misfortune,' then misfortune to him on the Day of Resurrection." It was narrated by al-Ḥākim (3/525) from Ḥammād ibn Salamah, who informed us from Saʿīd ibn Iyās al-Jurayrī from Abū al-ʿAlāʾ Yazīd ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Shikhkhīr, who said: I heard Abū Saʿīd al-Ḍaḥḥāk ibn Qays al-Fihrī say: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: and he mentioned it. Al-Ḥākim authenticated it and al-Dhahabī said:
