" Abū Zurʿah was asked about it, and he said: It is Ṭalḥah from ʿAṭāʾ, mursal." I said: And this Ṭalḥah is abandoned. It is strange that al-Suyūṭī in "al-Laʾāliʾ" only obtained this path from Ibn al-Najjār! However, he mentioned a good mursal witness for it and said: "Ibn Abī ʿAmr mentioned in his 'Musnad': Bishr ibn al-Sarī narrated to us, Hammām narrated to us from Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr from Abū Salamah from al-Ḥaḍramī ibn Lāḥiq that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: If you send..." I said: And this isnād is authentic and mursal, al-Ḥaḍramī ibn Lāḥiq is a minor tābiʿī, he narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās and Ibn ʿAmr mursal and there is no harm in him as Ibn Maʿīn said. Ibn Qutaybah narrated it from his path in "Gharīb al-Ḥadīth" (1/46/2). In summary, the ḥadīth is authentic through these paths, especially since the first path is authentic in itself, and al-Suyūṭī inclined towards this, saying at the end of his research: "al-Ḥākim said in 'al-Mustadrak': When the narrations of a ḥadīth are numerous, it becomes evident that the ḥadīth has a basis. And Allāh knows best." He mentioned a witness for it from the ḥadīth of Abū Umāmah, raised with the wording: "When he sent something, he would say to their leader: If you send me a courier, make him stout, handsome, and good-looking." It was produced by al-Kharāʾiṭī in "Iʿtilāl al-Qulūb": ʿAlī ibn Ḥarb al-Ṭāʾī narrated to us, my father narrated to us, ʿAfīf ibn Sālim narrated from al-Ḥasan ibn Dīnār from him. I said: And al-Ḥasan ibn Dīnār, Abū Ḥātim and others said: A liar. Such a person is not to be used as a witness, nor is he honorable, as he did not meet any of the Companions, for they only mentioned his narration from some of the tābiʿīn, like "Ibn Sīrīn" and others.
