and the ḥadīth was mentioned by al-Haythamī (9/187): "It was narrated by Aḥmad, Abū Yaʿlá, al-Bazzār, and al-Ṭabarānī, and its narrators are trustworthy, and Najī did not narrate it alone." I said: This means that it has supporting evidences that strengthen it, and it is so. 1 - ʿUmārah ibn Zādhān narrated to us from Thābit, from Anas, who said: "The Angel of Rain sought permission from his Lord to visit the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and permission was granted to him. It was on the day of Umm Salamah... While she was at the door, al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī entered... He began to climb on the back of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) began to kiss him. The angel said to him: Do you love him? He said: Yes. The angel said: Indeed, your nation will kill him. If you wish, I can show you the place where he will be killed. He said: Yes. So the angel took a handful from the place where he would be killed and showed it to him. It was a soft or red soil, and Umm Salamah took it and placed it in her garment. Thābit said: We used to say: It is Karbalāʾ." It was narrated by Aḥmad (3/242 and 265), Ibn Ḥibbān (2241), and Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Dalāʾil" (202). I said: Its narrators are trustworthy except for this ʿUmārah, about whom al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful but makes many mistakes." Al-Haythamī said: "It was narrated by Aḥmad, Abū Yaʿlá, al-Bazzār, and al-Ṭabarānī with isnāds, and among them is ʿUmārah ibn Zādhān, whom a group declared trustworthy, but he has weakness, and the rest of Abū Yaʿlá's narrators are those of the authentic [collections]." 2 - Muḥammad ibn Muṣʿab narrated: al-Awzāʿī narrated to us from Abū ʿAmmār Shaddād ibn ʿAbd Allāh, from Umm al-Faḍl bint al-Ḥārith, that she entered... one day to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and placed him (meaning al-Ḥusayn) in his lap. Then I turned away, and when I looked back, the eyes of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) were shedding tears. She said: I said: O Prophet of Allāh, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, what is the matter? He said: Gabriel (peace be upon him) came to me and informed me that my nation will kill this son of mine. I said: This one? He said: Yes, and he brought me a soil from his land, which was red." It was narrated by al-Ḥākim (3/176 and 177) and he said: "Authentic according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs"! Al-Dhahabī refuted it by saying: "I say: Rather, it is disconnected and weak, for Shaddād did not meet Umm al-Faḍl, and Muḥammad ibn Muṣʿab is weak." 3 - ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿīd narrated from his father, from ʿĀʾishah or Umm Salamah—ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿīd was uncertain—that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to one of them: "A king entered my house who had never entered before, and he said to me: Indeed, this son of yours, al-Ḥusayn, will be killed. If you wish, I can show you some of the soil of the land where he will be killed. He then brought out a red soil."
