It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/294): Wakīʿ narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿīd narrated to me. I said: This isnād [chain of transmission] consists entirely of trustworthy men, the men of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim], so it is authentic if Saʿīd, who is Ibn Abī Hind, heard it from ʿĀʾishah or Umm Salamah. However, I am not confident about that, as they did not mention that he heard from them, and there are about fifty-four years between his death and the death of Umm Salamah, and about fifty-eight years between his death and the death of ʿĀʾishah. And Allāh knows best. It was also recorded by al-Ṭabarānī from ʿĀʾishah with similar wording: "O ʿĀʾishah, Gabriel informed me that my son Ḥusayn will be killed in the land of al-Ṭaff..." Al-Haythamī said (9/188): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr' and 'al-Awsaṭ,' and in the isnād of 'al-Kabīr' is Ibn Lahīʿah, and in the isnād of 'al-Awsaṭ' is someone I do not know." 4 - It was also recorded by al-Ṭabarānī from Umm Salamah with similar wording: "Your nation will kill this one in a land called Karbalāʾ, so Gabriel took some of its soil and showed it to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)..." (See al-Istidrāk no. 161/21). Al-Haythamī said (9/189): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī with isnāds, and the men of one of them are trustworthy." (See al-Istidrāk no. 161/26)
