"I am only a human being, and disputants come to me. Perhaps some of you are more eloquent in presenting their case than others, and I judge in their favor based on that. So, if I judge in favor of someone for a Muslim's right, it is a piece of fire; let him take it or leave it." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (3/101 and 8/116-117), Muslim (5/129), al-Ṭaḥāwī (2/287), and Aḥmad (6/308) from Ibn Shihāb, who said: ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr informed me that Zaynab, the daughter of Abū Salamah, informed him that Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), informed her about the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) that he heard his disputants at the door of his chamber, so he went out to them and said: then he mentioned it. It has a corroborating report with the wording: "I am only a human being, and perhaps some of you are more persuasive in their argument than others. So, if I cut off a piece of a brother's right for someone, I am cutting for him a piece of fire." It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (2/51-52), al-Ṭaḥāwī (2/287), and Abū Yaʿlá in "his Musnad" (4/1416, manuscript image) through the route of Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr from Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from Abū Hurayrah as elevated [to the Prophet]. It was said in "al-Zawāʾid": "Its isnād is authentic, and its men are the men of the authentic collections." I say: Rather, it is only a ḥasan isnād, for Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr was only narrated by al-Bukhārī in conjunction and by Muslim as a follow-up. It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" from the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar, who said: Two men disputed before the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he said: then he mentioned it. It was said in "al-Majmaʿ" (4/198): "In it is al-Qāsim ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, and he is abandoned." It was narrated by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" from Anas as in "Muntakhab Kanz al-ʿUmmāl" (2/201).
- "In the last days, there will be people who sit in the mosques in circles, their leader being the world, so do not sit with them, for Allāh has no need for them." It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī (3/78/2) and Abū Isḥāq al-Muzakkī in "al-Fawāʾid al-Muntaqāh"
