"there is nothing wrong with him." Ibn Ḥibbān declared him trustworthy. He was followed by Shuʿbah, but he omitted "Thābit ibn al-Ṣamṭ" from the isnād and said: "from a man among the Companions of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)" in the second narration. It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī (2/330) and Aḥmad (4/237), and its isnād is authentic, and it is more authentic than the first. It was narrated from Abū Bakr ibn Ḥafṣ in another way, through the route of Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb Abū Shihāb from Abū Isḥāq al-Shaybānī from Abū Bakr ibn Ḥafṣ from Ibn ʿUmar who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. It was recorded by al-Khaṭīb in "Tārīkh Baghdād" (6/205). I said: Its narrators are trustworthy except for this Abū Shihāb, whom I do not know. The ḥadīth has a corroborating narration reported by Saʿīd ibn Abī Hilāl from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muslim that Abū Muslim al-Khawlānī performed ḥajj and entered upon ʿĀʾishah, the wife of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and she began asking him about Syria and its cold, and he began informing her. She said: How do you endure its cold? He said: O Mother of the Believers, they drink a beverage called ṭilāʾ. She said: Allāh has spoken the truth and my beloved has conveyed it. I heard my beloved, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), say: "Some people from my ummah will drink wine, calling it by other than its name." It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (2/147) and al-Bayhaqī (7/294-295). Al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs." Al-Dhahabī commented on it by saying: "I said: He said: 'Muḥammad,' but Muḥammad is unknown, even if he is the nephew of al-Zuhrī."
