so the chain of transmission is broken." I said: Saʿīd ibn Abī Hilāl had become confused, and the ḥadīth from ʿĀʾishah with a different wording has been mentioned before this ḥadīth. It has a second corroboration, from the ḥadīth of Abū Umāmah al-Bāhilī who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "The nights and days will not pass until a group from my nation drinks wine, calling it by other than its name." It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (3384), and Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (6/97) from ʿAbd al-Salām ibn ʿAbd al-Quddūs, narrated to us by Thawr ibn Yazīd from Khālid ibn Maʿdān from him. Abū Nuʿaym said: "This is how it was narrated to us from Abū Umāmah, and it was narrated from Thawr from Khālid from Abū Hurayrah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) similarly." I said: Its narrators are trustworthy except for this ʿAbd al-Salām, who is weak as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." It has a third corroboration narrated by Abū ʿĀmir al-Khazzāz from Ibn Abī Mulaykah from Ibn ʿAbbās that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Indeed, my nation will drink wine in the end times, calling it by other than its name." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (3/114/3). Abū ʿĀmir's name is Ṣāliḥ ibn Rustum al-Muzanī, and he is truthful but makes many mistakes as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," so he is used for corroboration. And Allāh knows best. It has a fourth corroboration narrated by Ḥātim ibn Ḥurayth from Mālik ibn Abī Maryam who said: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ghanm entered upon us and we discussed the ṭilāʾ, so he said: Abū Mālik al-Ashʿarī told me that he heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "People from my nation will certainly drink wine, calling it by other than its name."
