"the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) recited this verse: * 'But what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening before you, [O Muḥammad], from the right and from the left, in separate groups? Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure? No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know.' * Then the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) spat on his palm and said," and he mentioned it. The context is for al-Ḥākim, who said: "Its isnād is authentic." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and al-Būṣīrī said in "al-Zawāʾid" (p. 168/1): "Its isnād is authentic, and its men are trustworthy." And it is as they said.

"Allāh looks at His creation on the night of the middle of Shaʿbān and forgives all of His creation except for a polytheist or one who harbors enmity." This is an authentic ḥadīth, narrated from a group of Companions through various chains that strengthen each other. They are Muʿādh ibn Jabal, Abū Thaʿlabah al-Khushanī, ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr, Abū Mūsá al-Ashʿarī, Abū Hurayrah, Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq, ʿAwf ibn Mālik, and ʿĀʾishah. 1 - As for the ḥadīth of Muʿādh, it is narrated by Makhūl from Mālik ibn Yukhāmir from him, raised [to the Prophet]. It was recorded by Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim in "al-Sunnah," number (512 - verified by me), narrated to us by Hishām ibn Khālid, narrated by Abū Khalīd ʿUtbah ibn Ḥammād from al-Awzāʿī and Ibn Thawbān (from his father) from Makhūl with it. From this chain, it was also recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (1980), Abū al-Ḥasan al-Qazwīnī in "al-Amālī" (4/2), Abū Muḥammad al-Jawharī in "al-Majlis al-Sābiʿ" (3/2), Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān al-Rabʿī in "Juzʾ min Ḥadīthihi" (217/1 and 218/1), Abū al-Qāsim al-Ḥusaynī in "al-Amālī" (p. 12/1), al-Bayhaqī in "Shuʿab al-Īmān" (2/288/2), Ibn ʿAsākir in "al-Tārīkh" (15/302/2), al-Ḥāfiẓ ʿAbd al-Ghanī al-Maqdisī in "al-Thālith wa-al-Tisʿīn min Takhrījihi" (p. 44/2), and Ibn al-Muḥibb in "Ṣifāt Rabb al-ʿĀlamīn" (7/2 and 129/2), and he said: "Al-Dhahabī said: Makhūl did not meet Mālik ibn Yukhāmir." I said: And if not for that, the isnād would have been ḥasan, for its men are trustworthy. Al-Haythamī said in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" (8/65): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr' and 'al-Awsaṭ,' and their men are trustworthy."
