then I saw that the ḥadīth was also narrated by al-Ṭayālisī (no. 229) who said: Qays narrated to us from Ibrāhīm ibn Maimūn similar to the narration of Yaḥyá and Abū Aḥmad in isnād, and the narration of Wakīʿ in matn. This strengthens what we deemed correct earlier, and all praise is due to Allāh for His guidance. The ḥadīth was referenced by Abū ʿUbaid in "al-Amwāl" (no. 276) and was narrated by al-Ṭaḥāwī in "al-Mushkil" (4/12) from the first two paths and from two other paths correctly with the wording: "Expel the Jews from the Arabian Peninsula." It was said in "al-Majmaʿ": "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī from two paths from Umm Salamah, and the men of one of them are the men of the authentic [collections]." I said: This is the wording of the ḥadīth of Abū ʿUbaidah mentioned earlier by al-Ṭayālisī, except that he said: "the Jews of al-Ḥijāz." It has many supporting narrations: see "lā yabqayanna," "lā yutraku," "lā yajtamiʿu," "O ʿAlī, if you are in charge," and others like "I will expel the Jews" (924). Among them is this: "Expel the polytheists from the Arabian Peninsula, and grant the delegations what I used to grant them."
ثم رأيت الحديث قد أخرجه الطيالسي (رقم ٢٢٩) قال: حدثنا قيس عن إبراهيم بن ميمون مثل رواية يحيى وأبي أحمد إسنادا، ورواية وكيع متنا، فهذا يقوي ما استصوبناه آنفا والحمد لله على توفيقه. والحديث علقه أبو عبيد في " الأموال " (رقم ٢٧٦) وأخرجه الطحاوي في " المشكل " (٤ / ١٢) من الطريقين الأولين ومن طريقين آخرين على الصواب بلفظ: " أخرجوا اليهود من جزيرة العرب ". قال في " المجمع ": " رواه الطبراني من طريقين عن أم سلمة، ورجال أحدهما رجال الصحيح ". قلت: وهو لفظ حديث أبي عبيدة المتقدم عند الطيالسي إلا أنه قال: " يهود الحجاز ". وله شواهد كثيرة: فانظر: " لا يبقين "، " لا يترك "، " لا يجتمع "، " يا علي إن أنت وليت " وغيرها مثل " لأخرجن اليهود " (٩٢٤). ومنها هذا: " أخرجوا المشركين من جزيرة العرب، وأجيزوا الوفد بنحو ما كنت أجيزهم ".
"Expel the polytheists from the Arabian Peninsula, and grant the delegations what I used to grant them." It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (6/208), Muslim (5/75), Abū Dāwūd (2/43), al-Ṭaḥāwī (4/16), al-Bayhaqī (9/207), and Aḥmad (no. 1935) from the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) advised three things and said: I said, and he mentioned the ḥadīth, then he said: Ibn ʿAbbās said, and he remained silent about the third, or he said, I forgot it. I said: In it is an indication of the permissibility of using the term "polytheist" for the People of the Book, for they are the ones intended by this ḥadīth as indicated by the previous ḥadīth and similarly by the following ḥadīth: "If I live, I will expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula until I leave none but a Muslim."
" أخرجوا المشركين من جزيرة العرب، وأجيزوا الوفد بنحو ما كنت أجيزهم ". أخرجه البخاري (٦ / ٢٠٨) ومسلم (٥ / ٧٥) وأبو داود (٢ / ٤٣) والطحاوي (٤ / ١٦) والبيهقي (٩ / ٢٠٧) وأحمد (رقم ١٩٣٥) من حديث ابن عباس أن رسول الله ﷺ أوصى بثلاثة فقال: قلت: فذكر الحديث ثم قال: قال ابن عباس وسكت عن الثالثة، أو قال فأنسيتها. قلت: وفيه دلالة على جواز إطلاق لفظ " المشرك " على أهل الكتاب، فإنهم هم المعنيون بهذا الحديث كما يدل عليه الحديث السابق ومثله الحديث الآتي: " لئن عشت لأخرجن اليهود والنصارى من جزيرة العرب حتى لا أترك فيها إلا مسلما ".
