then Ibn ʿAdī narrated it from al-Furāt, who said: Our companions narrated to us from al-Qāsim with it. And he said: "This al-Furāt, I have not seen the early scholars explicitly declare him weak, and I hope there is no harm in him, because I have not seen in his narrations any objectionable ḥadīth." I said: And Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (3/2/80): "I asked my father about him, and he said: There is no harm in him, his position is truthful, and his ḥadīth is sound." And Aḥmad said: "Trustworthy." as in "al-Mīzān" and "al-Lisān." I said: So the isnād is authentic, and the unknown status of al-Furāt's companions does not harm it, because they are a group whose ignorance is compensated, and perhaps among them is Abū Wahb al-Kalāʿī, for he narrated it from al-Qāsim as in the first path, so the ḥadīth is authentic. And al-Dhahabī's statement in the biography of al-Furāt: "Objectionable ḥadīth" is an objectionable statement, and perhaps he did not come across the first path, rather this is apparent. And Allāh knows best. And the ḥadīth is among what al-Suyūṭī missed, so he did not include it in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr," neither in the chapter "Inna" nor in "Awwal," but he included in it what might serve as a witness for this, saying (1/274/2): "The first thing that will overturn my nation from Islam as a vessel is overturned, is wine. Ibn ʿAsākir from Ibn ʿAmr." Then I saw it in "Tārīkh" (18/76/1) from Zayd ibn Yaḥyā ibn ʿUbayd, who said: Ibn Thābit ibn Thawbān narrated to me from Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAbd Allāh, who said: I heard Ibn Muḥayriz say: I heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr say, and he mentioned it and added at the end, "He said: and I said (perhaps. and he frowned) the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)."
