he mentioned it. I said: This is a good chain of transmission. Al-Qāsim ibn Muḥammad is the son of Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq, a trustworthy figure and one of the jurists in Medina, relied upon by the group. Abū Wahb al-Kilāʿī, his name is ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿUbayd, was deemed trustworthy by Duḥaym. Ibn Maʿīn said: There is no harm in him. Muḥammad ibn Rāshid is al-Makkḥūlī al-Khuzāʿī al-Dimashqī, trusted by a group of prominent scholars like Aḥmad and Ibn Maʿīn, among others, while others weakened him. Abū Ḥātim took a middle stance and said: "He was truthful and his ḥadīth were good." I said: This is the more likely opinion for us, and al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful but makes mistakes." Zayd ibn Yaḥyá is either Zayd ibn Yaḥyá ibn ʿUbayd al-Khuzāʿī Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Dimashqī, or Zayd ibn Abī al-Zarqāʾ Yazīd al-Mawṣilī Abū Muḥammad, resident of Ramla. It is not clear to me now which one is meant here, as both narrated from Muḥammad ibn Rāshid, but whichever it is, he is trustworthy. I have found another route for the ḥadīth, recorded by Abū Yaʿlá in "his Musnad" (225/1) and Ibn ʿAdī (Q 264/2) from al-Furāt ibn Salmān from al-Qāsim with it, and its wording is: "The first thing that will overturn Islam as a vessel is overturned is a drink called: al-Ṭilāʾ."
