I said: al-Dhahabī said: "Truthful, but there is some weakness in him." al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful but makes mistakes." I said: Thus, his ḥadīth is ḥasan, if Allāh wills, as long as he does not contradict. And he has been corroborated; it was also recorded by al-Bayhaqī and al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (7/432) through the route of Ibrāhīm ibn ʿUyainah who said: I heard Ibn Ḥibbān narrate from Abū Zurʿah ibn ʿAmr ibn Jarīr from Abū Hurayrah, raised [to the Prophet] with the wording: "Indeed, sheep are from the animals of Paradise, so wipe their noses and pray in their resting places." I said: And this isnād is also ḥasan, Ibrāhīm ibn ʿUyainah, al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful but errs." And it has a third route with the wording: "Wipe their noses (meaning the sheep) and pray in their resting places, for they are from the animals of Paradise." It was recorded by al-Bazzār (49) through the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jaʿfar ibn Najīḥ: Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr ibn Ḥalḥalah narrated to us from Wahb ibn Kaysān from Ḥumayd ibn Mālik from Abū Hurayrah who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was asked about praying in the resting places of sheep? He said..." and mentioned it, and said: "We do not know that Ḥumayd narrated from Abū Hurayrah except this." al-Haythamī said: "ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jaʿfar is weak."
