"a ḥasan gharīb ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth." ʿAṭāʾ followed him with the wording: "The molar of the disbeliever is like 'Uḥud' and his thigh is like 'al-Bayḍāʾ' and his seat in the Fire is between 'Qadīd' and 'Makkah' and the thickness of his skin is forty-two cubits by the cubit of the Almighty." It was narrated by Aḥmad (2/334 and 537), Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim in "al-Sunnah" (811), and Abū Bakr al-Anbārī in "Ḥadīth" (212/1) from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Dīnār from Zayd ibn Aslam from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār from Abū Hurayrah as marfūʿ. I say: This isnād is ḥasan and it is according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī, except that ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Dīnār, who is the client of Ibn ʿUmar, has some criticism regarding his memory, and for this reason, the ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful but makes mistakes." Abū Ḥāzim followed him with the wording: "The molar of the disbeliever or the canine of the disbeliever is like Uḥud and the thickness of his skin is a journey of three [days]." It was extracted by Muslim (8/154). It has a supporting narration reported by ʿAbbād from Ayyūb from Abū Qilābah from Abū ʿUthmān from Thawbān who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was asked about the molar of the disbeliever? He said: Like Uḥud and the thickness of his skin is forty cubits by the cubit of the Almighty." It was extracted by al-Bazzār in "Musnad" (p. 315) and its men are trustworthy except for ʿAbbād, who is Ibn Manṣūr, and he is weak due to his poor memory and tadlīs as previously explained and detailed at the beginning of the second volume, so the statement of the ḥāfiẓ ʿUqbah: "It is a ḥasan isnād," is not ḥasan unless he meant it is ḥasan due to other [supporting narrations], which is possible.
