from Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said, and he mentioned it. al-Ḥākim said: "The isnād is authentic," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said, despite the weakness in Ibn Isḥāq. It was also recorded by al-Tirmidhī (3/341) who said: ʿAlī ibn Ḥujr narrated to us, Muḥammad ibn ʿAmmār informed us, my grandfather Muḥammad ibn ʿAmmār and Ṣāliḥ, the client of al-Tawʾamah, narrated to me from Abū Hurayrah in a marfūʿ manner, except that he did not mention "the upper arm," and he said: "His thigh is like the whiteness and his seat in the fire is a three-day journey like al-Rabadhah," and he said: "A ḥasan gharīb ḥadīth." And it is as he said, for although Ṣāliḥ, the client of al-Tawʾamah, is weak, he is paired with Muḥammad ibn ʿAmmār, who is Ibn Saʿd al-Quraz, from whom a group of trustworthy narrators transmitted, and Ibn Ḥibbān declared him reliable. The other Muḥammad ibn ʿAmmār is Ibn Ḥafṣ ibn ʿUmar ibn Saʿd al-Quraz, and he is trustworthy. Aḥmad ibn Ḥātim al-Ṭawīl disagreed with him, saying: Muḥammad ibn ʿAmmār narrated to us from Ṣāliḥ from Abū Hurayrah. It was recorded by Ibn Bishrān in "al-Amālī" (19/2) from Muḥammad ibn Bishr ibn Maṭar, who said: Aḥmad ibn Ḥātim al-Ṭawīl narrated to us. I said: I do not know this Ibn Bishr, and Ibn Ḥātim is apparently al-Saʿdī. Al-Dhahabī said: "Maḥmūd ibn Ḥakīm al-Mustamlī narrated from him a rejected ḥadīth about 'al-Idrīsī.'" Abū Ṣāliḥ also followed him from Abū Hurayrah with the wording: "The thickness of the disbeliever's skin is forty-two cubits by the cubit of the Almighty, and his molar is like Uḥud." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (3/342) and al-Ḥākim (4/595) who said: "Authentic according to the conditions of the two shaykhs," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said, and al-Tirmidhī said:
