"Do you not know that a believer is afflicted so that it may be an expiation for his sins?" Ibn Saʿd (2/207) from Isrāʾīl ibn Yūnus from Ashʿath ibn Abī al-Shaʿthāʾ from Abū Burdah from one of the wives of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), presumed to be ʿĀʾishah, who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) became ill with an illness that caused him great distress or pain. She said: I said, 'O Messenger of Allāh, you are in distress or discomfort; if one of us women did this, you would be amazed at her.' He then mentioned it." I said: Its isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.

"O Ibn ʿĀbis, shall I not inform you of the best thing with which those seeking refuge seek protection?" He said: "Yes, O Messenger." He said: "*Say, 'I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak'* and *Say, 'I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind'*—these two sūrahs." It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī (2/312), Ibn Saʿd (2/212), and Aḥmad (4/153) from Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr from Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-Ḥārith: Abū ʿAbd Allāh informed me that Ibn ʿĀʾish al-Juhanī informed him that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to him: then he mentioned it. I said: This isnād's narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, except for this Abū ʿAbd Allāh, whom al-Dhahabī said: "He is unknown." As for Ibn Ḥibbān, he mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt." However, the ḥadīth is authentic, as it has many routes from ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir al-Juhanī, with al-Nasāʾī and others. "The molar of the disbeliever on the Day of Resurrection will be like Mount Uḥud, and the width of his skin will be seventy cubits, and his arm will be like al-Bayḍāʾ, and his thigh like Waraqān, and his seat in the Fire will be as far as between me and al-Rabadhah."
