and the ḥadīth was attributed by al-Ḥāfiẓ and al-Suyūṭī to al-Nasāʾī as well, and it is likely in his "al-Kubrā," and al-Suyūṭī also attributed it to al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah."

- "We do not seek assistance from polytheists against polytheists." It was narrated by Ibn Saʿd (2/48), al-Ṭaḥāwī in "al-Mushkil" (3/241), and al-Ḥākim (2/122) through the route of Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr from Saʿd ibn al-Mundhir from Abū Ḥumayd al-Sāʿidī: "That the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) went out on the day of Uḥud until he passed the Thaniyyat al-Wadāʿ, and there he saw a rough battalion. He said: Who are these? They said: This is ʿAbdullāh ibn Ubayy ibn Salūl with six hundred of his followers from the Jews of Banū Qaynuqāʿ, and they are the clan of ʿAbdullāh ibn Salām. He said: Have they embraced Islam? They said: No, O Messenger of Allāh. He said: Tell them to return, for we do not..." I say: This isnād is good except that Saʿd ibn al-Mundhir is only narrated from by this Muḥammad and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sulaymān ibn al-Ghasīl. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" and al-Ḥākim mentioned him as a witness for the ḥadīth of Ḥabīb ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from his father from his grandfather who said: "I saw the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) while he was intending to go on a military expedition, I and a man from my people who had not embraced Islam, and we said: We feel ashamed that our people witness a scene and we do not witness it with them. He said: Have you embraced Islam? We said: No. He said: We do not seek assistance from polytheists against polytheists. So we embraced Islam and witnessed it with him. I killed a man and he struck me a blow, and I married his daughter afterward. She used to say: May you never lack a man who adorned you with this adornment! And I would say: May you never lack a man who hastened your father to the Fire." It was narrated by al-Ṭaḥāwī (3/239), Aḥmad (3/454), Ibn Saʿd (3/534-535), and al-Ḥākim (2/121-122) who authenticated it, and its narrators are trustworthy except for this ʿAbd al-Raḥmān who is Ibn Ḥabīb ibn Yasāf. Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him (2/2/230) from the narration of this Ibn Ḥabīb alone, and he did not mention any criticism or commendation about him. Ibn Ḥibbān also mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt." And he has another ḥadīth from ʿĀʾishah who said:
