ʿAffān in his narration: Abū al-Zubayr informed us, and ʿAbd al-Ṣamad in his narration said: Abū al-Zubayr narrated to us from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. And he added: "He said to his Companions: If we were to stay in Medina, and they entered upon us, we would fight them. They said: O Messenger of Allāh, by Allāh, they did not enter upon us in the time of ignorance, so how would they enter upon us in Islam! ʿAffān said in his narration: He said: Then it is your affair, he said: So he wore his armor, he said: Then the Anṣār said: We have returned the opinion of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), so they came and said: O Prophet of Allāh, then it is your affair, he said: It is not for a prophet, once he has worn his armor, to take it off until he fights." It was also narrated by Ibn Saʿd (2/45): ʿAffān ibn Muslim informed us with it except that he said: from Abū al-Zubayr from Jābir, and it was narrated by al-Dārimī (2/129) Ḥajjāj ibn Minhal informed us, Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, Abū al-Zubayr narrated to us from Jābir. I said: This isnād has trustworthy men according to the conditions of Muslim, but Abū al-Zubayr is a mudallis and he narrated it with ʿanʿanah in all of its narrations, and the statement of al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Fatḥ" (12/355): "In a narration by Aḥmad: Jābir narrated to us." I think it is a mistake from him due to his attention shifting to the statement of Ḥammād in the narration of ʿAbd al-Ṣamad from him: "He narrated to us," so he thought it was from the statement of Abū al-Zubayr, and Allāh knows best. However, the ḥadīth of the chapter has a supporting narration from the ḥadīth of Abū Mūsá al-Ashʿarī in a shortened form similar to it in his ḥadīth, and in it after his saying: "And Allāh is better": "When the group of believers on the day of Uḥud, and the good that Allāh brought thereafter." It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (12/354-355 - Fatḥ) and Muslim (7/57) and al-Dārimī. And another supporting narration from the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās similar to it, and he added after his saying: "And Allāh is better": "So it was as the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said." And in it, the vision was on the day of Uḥud. It was narrated by Aḥmad (1/271) with a good isnād
