then he narrated with an authentic chain from al-Ḥajjāj ibn al-Ḥajjāj from Qatādah from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr from Abū Hurayrah as a marfūʿ ḥadīth.
ثم روى بسندصحيح عن الحجاج بن الحجاج عن قتادة عن عبد الله بن عمرو عن أبي هريرة مرفوعا.
"Sleep is the brother of death, and the inhabitants of Paradise do not sleep." It is narrated from the ḥadīth of Jābir and ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Awfá. 1 - As for the ḥadīth of Jābir, it is narrated from him by Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir, and there are two paths from him: the first is from Sufyān al-Thawrī from him with this, and there is disagreement about it. Some narrated it from him as musnad, while others narrated it from him as mursal. A - As for the musnad, its narrators are five: the first is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Mughīrah who said, "Sufyān narrated to us with this." It was recorded by Tamām al-Rāzī in "al-Fawāʾid" (4/79/1), al-ʿAqīlī in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" (p. 221), Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (fol. 221/2), Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (7/90) and "Ṣifat al-Jannah" (fol. 128/2), as well as al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in "Ṣifat al-Jannah" (3/84/1) through the path of al-Miqdām ibn Dāwūd from him with this. Al-ʿAqīlī said: "This Ibn al-Mughīrah contradicts in some of his ḥadīth and narrates what has no basis, and this is among what he was contradicted in." Then he presented it from the path of a group from Sufyān as mursal, as will be explained. I say: Al-Miqdām ibn Dāwūd is also weak, rather he is severely weak, but his teacher is not better than him, as al-Dhahabī accused him of fabrication, and Abū Nuʿaym said after the ḥadīth: "ʿAbd Allāh was unique in narrating it": and he missed the following corroborations. The second is al-Ḥusayn ibn Ḥafṣ who said: "Sufyān narrated to us with this." It was recorded by Abū al-Ḥasan al-Ḥarbī in "al-Ḥarbiyyāt" (2/47/1-2) and Abū al-Shaykh in "Tārīkh Aṣbahān" (pp. 157 and 192) through the path of al-Naḍr ibn Hishām who said, "al-Ḥusayn ibn Ḥafṣ narrated to us with this." Abū al-Shaykh said: "No one narrated this ḥadīth from al-Ḥusayn ibn Ḥafṣ except al-Naḍr."
" النوم أخو الموت ولا ينام أهل الجنة ". روي من حديث جابر وعبد الله بن أبي أوفى. ١ - أما حديث جابر فيرويه عنه محمد بن المنكدر، وله عنه طريقان: الأولى: عن سفيان الثوري عنه به، وقد اختلفوا عليه، فرواه عنه هكذا مسندا جماعة، ورواه آخرون عنه مرسلا. أ - أما المسند فرواته خمسة: الأول: عبد الله بن محمد بن المغيرة حدثنا سفيان به. أخرجه تمام الرازي في " الفوائد " (٤ / ٧٩ / ١) والعقيلي في " الضعفاء " (ص ٢٢١) وابن عدي في " الكامل " (ق ٢٢١ / ٢) وأبو نعيم في " الحلية " (٧ / ٩٠) و " صفة الجنة " (ق ١٢٨ / ٢) وكذا الضياء المقدسي في " صفة الجنة " (٣ / ٨٤ / ١) من طريق المقدام بن داود عنه به. وقال العقيلي: " ابن المغيرة هذا يخالف في بعض حديثه ويحدث بما لا أصل له، وهذا مما خولف فيه ". ثم ساقه من طريق جماعة عن سفيان به مرسلا، كما يأتي بيانه. قلت: والمقدام بن داود ضعيف أيضا بل هو شديد الضعف لكن شيخه ليس خيرا منه، فقد اتهمه الذهبي بالوضع، وقال أبو نعيم عقب الحديث: " تفرد به عبد الله ": وقد فاتته المتابعات الآتية. الثاني: الحسين بن حفص قال: حدثنا سفيان به. أخرجه أبو الحسن الحربي في " الحربيات " (٢ / ٤٧ / ١ - ٢) وأبو الشيخ في " تاريخ أصبهان " (ص ١٥٧ و١٩٢) من طريق النضر بن هشام قال حدثنا الحسين بن حفص به. وقال أبو الشيخ: " لم يرو هذا الحديث عن الحسين بن حفص غير النضر ".
