al-Tirmidhī (2/69) and also (2/217), Abū Dāwūd (4742), al-Dārimī (2/325), Ibn Ḥibbān (2570), Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in "al-Ahwāl" (p. 3/2), al-Ḥākim (2/436, 506, 4/560), Aḥmad (2/162 and 192), and al-Thaʿlabī in "Tafsīr" (25/2) through the route of Sulaymān al-Taymī from Aslam al-ʿAjlī from Bishr ibn Shaghāf from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ who said: "A Bedouin came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: What is the trumpet? He said: "and he mentioned it. al-Tirmidhī said: "This is a ḥasan ḥadīth; we only know it from the narration of Sulaymān al-Taymī." I say: He is a trustworthy, devout man from the men of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim], and those above him are trustworthy. Therefore, al-Ḥākim said: "Its isnād is ṣaḥīḥ," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. Imām Aḥmad (2/192) said: Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd narrated to us from al-Taymī from Aslam from Abū Maryah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), or from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who said: "The two blowers are in the second heaven, the head of one is in the east and his feet in the west, or he said: the head of one is in the west and his feet in the east, waiting for when they will be commanded to blow into the trumpet, and they will blow." al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (10/330): "Aḥmad narrated it with doubt, if it is from Abū Maryah, it is mursal and its men are trustworthy, and if it is from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr, it is connected and musnad, and its men are trustworthy." Thus he said: and this Abū Maryah is unknown, al-Ḥāfiẓ mentioned him in "al-Taʿjīl" with this narration of Aḥmad and did not mention any criticism or praise about him, and perhaps Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt," so it should be reviewed, as my hand cannot reach it now.
