It was recorded by al-Khaṭīb in "Tārīkh Baghdād" (5/153) and al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (p. 207/1). I said: This isnād [chain of transmission] consists of narrators all of whom are reliable according to the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim], except for al-Khaṣīb. Al-Khaṭīb mentioned him and narrated this ḥadīth from him without mentioning any criticism or praise. 5 - As for the ḥadīth of Jābir, it was narrated by Muṭṭalib ibn Shuʿayb al-Azdī, who said: Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Ramlī narrated to us, al-Firyābī narrated to us, Sufyān narrated to us from Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad from his father from Jābir with it. It was recorded by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (3/189), who said: Sulaimān ibn Aḥmad narrated to us, Muṭṭalib (1) ibn Shuʿayb al-Azdī narrated to us... and he said: "A strange ḥadīth from al-Thawrī from Jaʿfar, al-Ramlī was the only one who narrated it from al-Firyābī." I said: This al-Ramlī is one of al-Bukhārī's shaykhs, but he has been weakened. Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar said: "Truthful but makes mistakes, and he had knowledge." And Muṭṭalib ibn Shuʿayb al-Azdī is trustworthy as Ibn Yūnus said, so the isnād is ḥasan and with what precedes it is ṣaḥīḥ. And Allāh knows best. 6 - As for the ḥadīth of al-Barāʾ, it is narrated by ʿAbd al-Aʿlá ibn Abī al-Masāwir from ʿAdī ibn Thābit from him in marfūʿ form with the wording: "The possessor of the trumpet has placed the trumpet on his mouth since he was created, waiting until he is commanded to blow into it, and he will blow." It was recorded by al-Khaṭīb in "Tārīkh Baghdād" (11/39). I said: This ʿAbd al-Aʿlá is very weak, al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Abandoned, and Ibn Maʿīn declared him a liar."
