al-Falākī in "al-Fawāʾid" (90/1), Abū Ṭāhir ibn Qaydās in "Majlis min Majālis Abī al-Qāsim al-Lālakāʾī" (3/122/2), and al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (1/449) from Muʾammil ibn Ismāʿīl: Shuʿbah informed us from Ziyād ibn ʿAlāqah from Usāmah ibn Sharīk, ascribed [to the Prophet]. al-Lālakāʾī said: "This is a strange ḥadīth from Ziyād ibn ʿAlāqah; we do not know of anyone who narrated it from him except Shuʿbah, and from him except Muʾammil." I said: He has poor memory as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," so the isnād is weak, and perhaps the ḥadīth is from the Isrāʾīliyyāt, as it was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abzā who said: Dāwūd the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and he mentioned it. He narrated it with two isnāds, one of which consists of the men of the Ṣaḥīḥ, as al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (10/234). (Note) The ḥadīth appeared in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr" and in "al-Fatḥ al-Kabīr" attributed to Ibn Ḥibbān and al-Tirmidhī, and its attribution to al-Tirmidhī is undoubtedly an error, as he did not narrate it. I suspect that "al-Tirmidhī" was a scribal error, and the correct attribution is "al-Bāwardī," as it also appeared in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" (2/176/2). It appeared in al-Munāwī as follows: "Ḥibbān from Usāmah ibn Sharīk, Ibn ʿAsākir from Anas"! It seems that he or some scribes confused the narration of this ḥadīth with the one before it! Then I found a supporting mursal ḥadīth in "Jāmiʿ Ibn Wahb" (p. 65) and its narrators are trustworthy except for the shaykh of Abū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī, who was not named. He is either a Tābiʿī or a Companion, and I lean towards the former as I explained in the other book (1956), so the ḥadīth is ḥasan by it, if Allāh wills.
