"Three things bring happiness and three bring misery. Among the things that bring happiness are: a woman whom you see and she pleases you, and when you are absent, you trust her with herself and your wealth; a mount that is gentle and catches up with your companions; and a house that is spacious with many amenities. Among the things that bring misery are: a woman whom you see and she displeases you, and she uses her tongue against you, and when you are absent, you do not trust her with herself and your wealth; a mount that is sluggish, if you strike it, it tires you, and if you leave it, it does not catch up with your companions; and a house that is narrow with few amenities." It was narrated by al-Ḥākim (2/162) through the chain of Muḥammad ibn Bakīr al-Ḥaḍramī, who said: Khālid ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, who said: Abū Isḥāq al-Shaybānī narrated to us from Abū Bakr ibn Ḥafṣ from Muḥammad ibn Saʿd from his father, as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. He said: "Muḥammad ibn Bakīr is unique in narrating it. If he preserved it, then it is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim." Al-Dhahabī said: "Muḥammad, according to Abū Ḥātim, is truthful but makes mistakes, and Yaʿqūb ibn Shaybah said he is trustworthy." Al-Mundhirī said (3/68): "This Muḥammad is truthful, and more than one person has declared him trustworthy." I say: The exact wording of Abū Ḥātim in "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" (3/2/214) is: "He is truthful in my opinion but sometimes errs." Then he transmitted his authentication from a group, so his ḥadīth does not fall below the level of ḥasan. And Allāh knows best. He was followed by Muḥammad ibn Abī Ḥumayd from Ismāʿīl ibn Muḥammad from his father from his grandfather with a shortened version. It was narrated by Ibn ʿAsākir in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (16/232/1).

"Why is this child of yours crying? Why don't you seek protection for him from the evil eye?" It was narrated by Aḥmad (6/72): Ḥusayn narrated to us, he said: Abū Uways narrated to us, ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Bakr narrated to us from ʿAmrah from ʿĀʾishah, she said:
