with a supporting contribution every year. Do not give the old, the defective, the sick, or the inferior animals, but from the average of your wealth, for Allāh did not ask you for the best nor command you to give the worst." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (1/250) who said: I read in the book of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sālim in Ḥimṣ, with the family of ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith al-Ḥimṣī, from al-Zubaydī, who said: Yāḥyā ibn Jābir informed me from Jubayr ibn Nufayr from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muʿāwiyah al-Ghāḍirī, attributed to the Prophet. I said: This isnād has trustworthy men, but it is disconnected between the sons of Jābir and Jubayr. However, al-Ṭabarānī connected it in "al-Muʿjam al-Ṣaghīr" (p. 115) and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan" (4/95) through two chains from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sālim from Muḥammad ibn al-Walīd al-Zubaydī: Yāḥyā ibn Jābir al-Ṭāʾī narrated to us that ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr narrated to him that his father narrated it to him. And he added: "and purifies his soul." A man asked: What is the purification of the soul? He replied: "To know that Allāh is with him wherever he is." I said: This isnād is authentic; its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except for ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sālim who is al-Zubaydī, and he is trustworthy. It was also recorded by al-Bukhārī in his "Tārīkh" through the route of Yāḥyā ibn Jābir, as in the biography of al-Ghāḍirī from "al-Iṣābah." (Benefit) His saying (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): "that Allāh is with him wherever he is." Imām Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā al-Dhuhlī said: "He means that Allāh's knowledge encompasses every place while Allāh is above the Throne." This was mentioned by al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Dhahabī in "al-ʿUluw," entry number (73) with my verification and abridgment. As for the saying of the common people and many of the elite: Allāh is present in every place, or in all existence, meaning by His essence, it is misguidance. Rather, it is taken from the doctrine of the unity of existence, which is professed by the extreme Sufis who do not differentiate between the Creator and the creation, and their leader says: Everything you see with your eye is Allāh! Exalted is Allāh above what they say, greatly exalted.
