then pray." He said: "His grandfather was Abū al-Ḥārith ʿUbayd ibn Abī ʿUbayd, who is ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Abī al-Ḥārith ibn Abī ʿUbayd, and it was narrated by ʿĀṣim ibn ʿAbd Allāh from ʿUbayd, the client of Abū Ruhm." I said: It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (4174) and Ibn Mājah (4002) through the route of Sufyān from ʿĀṣim with it. ʿUbayd ibn Abī ʿUbayd was deemed trustworthy by al-ʿAjlī and Ibn Ḥibbān, and a group of trustworthy narrators reported from him. It is possible that he is the reliable man not named in the route of al-Nasāʾī, and it is possible that he is someone else. In any case, the ḥadīth is authentic, as ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Abī ʿUbayd was said by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (2/2/224) from Abū Zurʿah: "There is no harm in him." He was followed by ʿĀṣim ibn ʿUbayd Allāh, and although he is weak, there is no harm in him for corroborations. And Allāh knows best. The ḥadīth has a supporting narration similar to it that will appear under number (1093).

"What is destined in the womb will occur." It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī (2/85) and Aḥmad (3/450) through the route of Shuʿbah from Abū al-Fiḍl, who said: I heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn Murrah al-Zurqī from Abū Saʿīd al-Zurqī "that a man asked the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) about withdrawal, saying: My wife is nursing, and I dislike that she becomes pregnant. The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said..." and he mentioned it. I said: Its narrators are trustworthy except for ʿAbd Allāh ibn Murrah al-Zurqī, whom the ḥāfiẓ said: "Unknown." I said: However, it is supported by the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, who said: "Withdrawal was mentioned to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he said: What is that? They said: A man has a wife who is nursing, so he has relations with her and dislikes that she becomes pregnant from him, and a man has a slave woman, so he has relations with her and dislikes that she becomes pregnant from him. He said: 'There is no harm if you do not do that, for it is only destiny.'" It was recorded by Muslim (4/159) and al-Nasāʾī (2/84-85) and Aḥmad (3/11) through the route of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Bishr al-Anṣārī from him. It also has other routes in Muslim, Abū Dāwūd (2170-2171), and Aḥmad (3/22, 49, 53, 68, 78) about Abū Saʿīd with similar content.
