"The people follow Quraysh in good and bad." Recorded by Muslim (6/2) and Aḥmad (3/331), the first from Abū al-Zubayr, and the latter from Abū Sufyān, both from Jābir as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. Abū al-Zubayr explicitly stated that he heard it from Jābir. The isnād of Aḥmad is authentic according to the conditions of Muslim. It has a supporting narration with the wording: "The people follow Quraysh in this matter, their Muslim follows their Muslim, and their disbeliever follows their disbeliever."

"The people follow Quraysh in this matter, their Muslim follows their Muslim, and their disbeliever follows their disbeliever." Recorded by al-Bukhārī (6/413), Muslim (6/2), al-Ṭayālisī (no. 2380), and Aḥmad (2/242-243) through the route of Abū al-Zinād from al-Aʿraj from Abū Hurayrah as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. It has other routes from him: 1 - Recorded by Muslim and Aḥmad (2/319) from Hammām ibn Munabbih from him. 2 - And Aḥmad (2/395) from Khallās from him. Its narrators are trustworthy, but it is disconnected between them. 3 - And Aḥmad (2/261) through the route of Abū Salamah from him with the wording: "The people follow Quraysh in this matter, their best follow their best, and their worst follow their worst." Its isnād is ḥasan. 4 - And Aḥmad also recorded it (2/433) from al-Qāsim from Nāfiʿ ibn Jubayr from him with it. It was narrated from him by Ibn Abī Dhiʾb. Its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the six, except for this al-Qāsim, and it appears he is Ibn Rushd ibn ʿUmar, for they mentioned among those who narrated from him Ibn Abī Dhiʾb, but they also mentioned that he heard from Abū Hurayrah, and here he narrates from him indirectly, so Allāh knows best. Al-Ḥāfiẓ mentioned in "al-Taqrīb" that he is unknown. It has a supporting narration with the wording:
