and it has another corroboration from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Mughaffal similar to it. Ibn al-Ḍuraysī recorded it in "Aḥādīth Muslim ibn Ibrāhīm al-Farāhīdī" (8/1-2) with a chain that is acceptable for follow-ups and corroborations. It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" and "al-Awsaṭ," and their narrators are those of the authentic collections, as well as by al-Bayhaqī as mentioned in "al-Targhīb" (2/236). Understanding the ḥadīth: This noble ḥadīth and those similar to it indicate the obligation of mentioning Allāh, exalted is He, and also sending prayers upon the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) in every gathering. The evidence of the ḥadīth for this comes from several aspects: First - his saying: "If He wills, He will punish them, and if He wills, He will forgive them," for this is only said regarding something that is obligatory to do and sinful to neglect. Second - his saying: "Even if they enter Paradise for the reward." This clearly indicates that one who neglects the mention and prayers upon him (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) deserves to enter the Fire, even if his eventual fate is Paradise as a reward for his faith. Third: his saying: "Otherwise, they will rise as if they were a donkey's carcass." This comparison implies the utmost condemnation of their action, and this would only be, by Allāh's will, in matters that are clearly prohibited. And Allāh knows best. Therefore, every Muslim should be aware of this and not neglect the mention of Allāh and sending prayers upon His Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) in every gathering he attends, lest he face regret and sorrow on the Day of Judgment. al-Munāwī said in "Fayḍ al-Qadīr":
