it was also recorded by al-Khaṭīb (5/341). And this Isḥāq is abandoned as mentioned in "Taqrīb." Ibrāhīm ibn ʿUbayd ibn Rafāʿah disagreed with him, saying: from Muḥammad ibn Kaʿb al-Quraẓī, from Abū Ṣirmah, from Abū Ayyūb, in a marfūʿ form similar to it with the wording: "If you had not been. And it has been mentioned recently (968), adding in the isnād 'Abū Ṣirmah,' which is correct, as it was narrated in this way from Abū Ṣirmah, from him, Muḥammad ibn Qays, with the wording we referred to in al-Tirmidhī, coming with number (1963). Among the supporting evidence also: the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar in a marfūʿ form with the wording: "If you did not sin, Allāh would create a creation that sins, then He would forgive them." It was said in "al-Majmaʿ" (10/215): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr' and 'al-Awsaṭ,' and he said in 'al-Awsaṭ': Allāh would create a creation that sins, then seeks forgiveness from Allāh, and He forgives them, for He is the Forgiving, the Merciful." It was narrated by al-Bazzār similarly to "al-Awsaṭ," referring to the mawqūf of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr. Their men are trustworthy, though there is some disagreement about some of them." I said: And it was also recorded by al-Ḥākim with a wording similar to "al-Awsaṭ," and it has been mentioned recently (967). Its isnād is good as I clarified there. Among the supporting evidence also is the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī in a marfūʿ form with the wording: (If you did not sin, Allāh would remove you and bring a people who sin, then seek forgiveness from Allāh, and He forgives them). It was narrated by al-Bazzār, and al-Haythamī said (10/215): "And in it is Yaḥyā ibn Kathīr, the companion of al-Baṣrī, and he is weak." I said: But it has supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah with this exact wording, with an addition at the beginning: "By the One in whose hand is my soul," and it will come with number (1950). Thus, the ḥadīth is ṣaḥīḥ due to other evidence.
