"and no one walks a path without mentioning Allāh, except that it will be a cause of regret for him from Allāh," then he said: "It was narrated by Aḥmad, Ibn Abī al-Dunyā, al-Nasāʾī, and Ibn Ḥibbān in his 'Ṣaḥīḥ,' all of them with a wording similar to that of Abū Dāwūd." I have two observations on it: the first is that the mentioned addition is not found with Abū Dāwūd in the two places referred to in his book, but it is with Ibn Ḥibbān (2321), and with him, instead of the matter of lying down, it is: "and no one retires to his bed without mentioning Allāh, except that it will be a cause of regret for him." (Regret) means a deficiency, and the "h" is a substitute for the omitted "w." The second is that Aḥmad did not narrate it from this path with the mentioned wording, but he narrated it from another path with the following wording: Among them is Abū Isḥāq, the client of al-Ḥārith, and his wording is: "No people sit in a gathering without mentioning Allāh, except that it will be a cause of regret for them, and no man walks a path without mentioning Allāh, except that it will be a cause of regret for him, and no man retires to his bed without mentioning Allāh, except that it will be a cause of regret for him."

It was narrated by Aḥmad (2/432), Ibn al-Sunnī (375), and al-Ḥākim (1/550) from Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd from Abū Isḥāq with it.
