"The chapters Hūd, al-Wāqiʿah, al-Mursalāt, ʿAmma Yatasaʾalūn, and Idhā al-Shamsu Kūwirat have made my hair gray." It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2/225), Ibn Saʿd in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (1/435), Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (4/350), al-Ḥākim (2/344), and al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Aḥādīth al-Mukhtārah" (66/75/1) through the chain of Shaybān from Abū Isḥāq from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: "Abū Bakr (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) said: O Messenger of Allāh, you have grown old? He replied." Then he mentioned it, and al-Tirmidhī said: "This is a ḥasan gharīb ḥadīth; we do not know it from the narration of Ibn ʿAbbās except through this route." I say: Abū al-Aḥwaṣ also followed it up from Abū Isḥāq al-Hamdānī with it. It was narrated by al-Ḥākim (2/476) who said: "Authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said, even though it was criticized due to the difference in its isnād. Shaybān and Abū al-Aḥwaṣ agreed on connecting it through this route, and they are both reliable, so their agreement is a proof. Then I found another follower for them, who is Isrāʾīl, according to Ibn Saʿd, who paired him with Shaybān. Al-Tirmidhī said after what was previously quoted from him: "ʿAlī ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated this ḥadīth from Abū Isḥāq from Abū Juḥayfah in a similar manner, and it was narrated from Abū Isḥāq from Abū Maysarah something of this in a mursal form. Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated from Isḥāq from ʿIkrimah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) in a manner similar to the ḥadīth of Shaybān from Abū Isḥāq, but he did not mention 'from Ibn ʿAbbās.'
