"The feet of the son of Adam will not move on the Day of Resurrection from before his Lord until he is asked about five things: about his life and how he spent it, about his youth and how he wore it out, about his wealth and how he earned it and how he spent it, and what he did with what he knew." Narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2/67), Abū Yaʿlá in "Musnad" (254/2), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (1/48/1) and "al-Ṣaghīr" (no. 648 - al-Rawḍ), Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (Q 95/1), al-Khaṭīb (12/440), and Ibn ʿAsākir in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (5/182/1, 12/239/2) through the route of Ḥusayn ibn Qays al-Raḥabī who narrated from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Abī Rabāḥ from Ibn ʿUmar from Ibn Masʿūd from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who said it. Al-Tirmidhī said: "This is a strange ḥadīth. We do not know it from the ḥadīth of Ibn Masʿūd from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) except through the ḥadīth of al-Ḥusayn ibn Qays, and he is weak in ḥadīth due to his memory." I say: However, it has supporting evidence indicating that he preserved it from the ḥadīth of Abū Barzah al-Aslamī and Muʿādh ibn Jabal. 1 - As for the ḥadīth of Abū Barzah, it is narrated by Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh from al-Aʿmash from Saʿīd ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jurayj from him. Narrated by al-Tirmidhī and al-Dārimī (1/131), Abū Yaʿlá in "Musnad" (353/2), and al-Khaṭīb in "Iqtidhāʾ al-ʿIlm al-ʿAmal" (no. 1 in my verification), and al-Tirmidhī said: "A good and authentic ḥadīth." I say: And he was followed by Ibrāhīm al-Zarrāʿ who narrated from Ibn Numayr from al-Aʿmash with it. Narrated by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (10/232).
