it was recorded by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (8/41) through the route of Abū Aḥmad Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Hamdānī, who narrated to us from Abū Ḥafṣ ʿUmar ibn Ibrāhīm al-Mustamlī, who narrated to us from Abū ʿUbaydah ibn Abī al-Safar, who narrated to us from al-Ḥasan ibn al-Rabīʿ, who narrated to us from al-Mufaḍḍal ibn Yūnus, who narrated to us from Ibrāhīm ibn Adham, from Manṣūr, from Mujāhid, from Anas: "that a man came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: Guide me to an action that if I do it, Allāh will love me and people will love me for it. The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to him..." and he mentioned it. He said: "The mention of Anas in this ḥadīth is an error from ʿUmar or Abū Aḥmad, for the reliable narrators from al-Ḥasan ibn al-Rabīʿ did not go beyond Mujāhid in it." Then he narrated it through the route of Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm al-Dawraqī, who narrated to us from al-Ḥasan ibn al-Rabīʿ Abū ʿAlī al-Bajalī, with it being mursal and elevated, without mentioning Anas. He said: "al-Ḥasan said, al-Mufaḍḍal said: Ibrāhīm ibn Adham did not narrate to us any ḥadīth except this one, and Ṭālūt narrated it from Ibrāhīm, without going beyond Ibrāhīm, and it is from the ḥadīth of Manṣūr and Mujāhid, well-known, as narrated by Sufyān al-Thawrī from Abū Ḥāzim from Sahl ibn Saʿd." I said: The ḥadīth of Sufyān has been mentioned from his routes, and although they are weak, they are not severely weak—except for the narration of Khālid ibn ʿAmr, the fabricator—therefore, they are suitable for consideration. The ḥadīth is strengthened by them and gains further strength by this mursal witness, for all its men are reliable. As for the one who connected it, there is weakness in it, for Abū Ḥafṣ ʿUmar ibn Ibrāhīm was said by al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Taqrīb": "truthful, but weak in his ḥadīth from Qatādah." As for Abū Aḥmad Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Hamdānī, I did not find a biography for him, and the previous words of Abū Nuʿaym suggest that he is a place of weakness. In summary, the ḥadīth is authentic with this mursal witness,
أخرجه أبو نعيم في " الحلية " (٨ / ٤١) من طريق أبي أحمد إبراهيم ابن محمد بن أحمد الهمداني حدثنا أبو حفص عمر بن إبراهيم المستملي حدثنا أبو عبيدة ابن أبي السفر حدثنا الحسن بن الربيع حدثنا المفضل بن يونس حدثنا إبراهيم بن أدهم عن منصور عن مجاهد عن أنس: " أن رجلا أتى النبي ﷺ فقال: دلني على عمل إذا أنا عملته أحبني الله ﷿ وأحبني الناس عليه، فقال له النبي ﷺ.. " فذكره وقال: " ذكر أنس في هذا الحديث وهم من عمر أو أبي أحمد، فقد رواه الأثبات عن الحسن بن الربيع فلم يجاوزوا فيه مجاهدا ". ثم ساقه من طريق أحمد بن إبراهيم الدورقي حدثنا الحسن بن الربيع أبو علي البجلي به مرسلا مرفوعا، لم يذكر فيه أنسا وقال: " قال الحسن، قال المفضل: لم يسند لنا إبراهيم بن أدهم حديثا غير هذا، ورواه طالوت عن إبراهيم، فلم يجاوز به إبراهيم، وهو من حديث منصور ومجاهد عزيز، مشهوره ما رواه سفيان الثوري عن أبي حازم عن سهل بن سعد ". قلت: قد تقدم حديث سفيان من طرق عنه وهي وإن كانت ضعيفة ولكنها ليست شديدة الضعف - بإستثناء رواية خالد بن عمرو الوضاع - فهي لذلك صالحة للاعتبار، فالحديث قوي بها ويزداد قوة بهذا الشاهد المرسل، فإن رجاله كلهم ثقات أما من وصله، ففيه ضعف، فإن أبا حفص عمر بن إبراهيم قال الحافظ في " التقريب ":" صدوق، في حديثه عن قتادة ضعف ". وأما أبو أحمد إبراهيم بن محمد بن أحمد الهمداني فلم أجد له ترجمة وكلام أبي نعيم المتقدم فيه يشعر بأنه محل للضعف. وجملة القول أن الحديث صحيح بهذا الشاهد المرسل،
