so when I came across this endorsement from such an esteemed scholar, I relied on it because he is more knowledgeable in this field than Ibn Ḥibbān, without contradicting him in general in this biography. Based on that, I authenticated the ḥadīth and retracted the previous weakening, and I have pointed this out in the second verification of "al-Mishkāt," and Allāh knows best.

- "Indeed, Allāh will question the servant on the Day of Resurrection until He says: What prevented you, when you saw wrongdoing, from denouncing it? If Allāh inspires a servant with his argument, he will say: O Lord! I trusted in You and feared the people." It was narrated by Ibn Mājah (4017), Ibn Ḥibbān (1845), and al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī al-Jawharī in "Selected Benefits" (p. 29/1), as well as al-Ḥumaydī in "al-Musnad" (739) and ʿAsākir (17/345/2) from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān that Nahār—a man from ʿAbd al-Qays who lived among Banī al-Najjār and was known for his virtue and righteousness—told him that he heard Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī say: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: and he mentioned it. I say: This is a good isnād, its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs except for Nahār al-ʿAbdī, about whom Ibn Kharrāsh said: truthful. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him among the trustworthy and said: he makes mistakes. And ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān is Ibn Muʿammar ibn Ḥazm Abū Ṭawālah, a trustworthy narrator from the narrators of the two Shaykhs.
