and Ibn Maʿīn said: he is not trustworthy, and al-Saʿdī and Abū Ḥātim said: a liar.

"Whoever abandons his brother for a year, it is as if he has shed his blood." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (404, 405), Abū Dāwūd (2/303 - Tāziyah), al-Ḥākim (4/163), Aḥmad (4/320), and Ibn Saʿd in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (7/500) from Abū ʿUthmān al-Walīd ibn Abī al-Walīd from ʿImrān ibn Abī Anas from Abū Khurāsh al-Sulamī that he heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say it: and he mentioned it. Al-Ḥākim said: "Its isnād is authentic." and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I said: And likewise, al-ʿIrāqī said in "Takhrīj al-Iḥyāʾ" (2/199) and the scholar Ibn al-Murtaḍá al-Yamānī in "Ithār al-Ḥaqq ʿalá al-Khalq" (425). And it now seems to me that it is so, for all its narrators—except the Companion—are narrators of Muslim, and I had said in my commentary on "al-Mishkāt" (5036): "Its isnād is weak." This was based on the statement of al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar in the biography of this al-Walīd from "al-Taqrīb": weak in ḥadīth. And he took that from what he mentioned in his biography in "al-Tahdhīb," and there is no authentication in it except for the statement of Ibn Ḥibbān in "al-Thiqāt": "He might contradict despite his few narrations." I said: And he missed the statement of Ibn Abī Ḥātim in "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" (4/2/20): "Abū Zurʿah was asked about him? He said: trustworthy."
