It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (4/14, 9/101), Aḥmad (2/335, 339), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Asmāʾ" (398) through the route of Fulaīḥ from Hilāl ibn ʿAlī from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār from Abū Hurayrah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who said: and he mentioned it. I said: And Fulaīḥ, despite being one of the narrators for the two Shaykhs, is truthful but makes many mistakes, as the ḥāfiẓ said. However, his ḥadīth is supported, and he has preserved it, by the ḥadīth of Muʿādh ibn Jabal from the narration of Zayd ibn Aslam from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār from him. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it similarly in full. There is a difference in its isnād, which will be clarified in the following ḥadīth. (Note) al-Ḥākim (1/80) recorded the ḥadīth in an abridged form from the mentioned route and said: "Authentic according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it." al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I said: They erred in their correction of al-Bukhārī as he recorded it more completely than their wording! Strangely, al-Suyūṭī also mentioned it in an abridged form in "Ziyādah al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr" from the narration of Aḥmad and al-Bukhārī! Ibn Ḥibbān (18) also recorded it from the mentioned route, but with "ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī ʿAmrah" instead of "ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār."
