"it reached Muṣʿab ibn al-Zubayr about a leader of the Anṣār, something that made him consider action against him. Anas ibn Mālik entered and said to him: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: 'Treat the Anṣār well or he said kindly, accept from their good-doers and overlook their wrong-doers.' So Muṣʿab threw himself from his bed and pressed his cheek to the carpet, saying: The command of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) is upon the head and the eye, so he left him." And ʿAlī ibn Zayd, who is Ibn Judʿān, is weak, but his ḥadīth is good in supporting evidence. And in "Musnad al-Bazzār" (p. 289 - its additions) there is supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq.
- "Indeed, the people are my outer garment and the Anṣār are my inner garment. If the people took a valley and the Anṣār took a path, I would follow the path of the Anṣār. And if it were not for the migration, I would be a man from the Anṣār. So whoever takes charge of the Anṣār, let him be good to their good-doers and overlook their wrong-doers. And whoever frightens them has frightened this one between these." And he pointed to himself (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (4/79) and Aḥmad (5/307) through the route of Ibn Wahb: Abū Ṣakhr informed me that Yaḥyá ibn al-Naḍr al-Anṣārī told him that he heard Abū Qatādah say: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say on the pulpit to the Anṣār: and he mentioned it. Al-Ḥākim said: "Its isnād is authentic." And al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: It is as they said, and all its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim except for Yaḥyá ibn al-Naḍr, and he is trustworthy. Al-Haythamī said (10/35): "Aḥmad narrated it and its narrators are the narrators of the authentic collections except for Yaḥyá ibn al-Naḍr al-Anṣārī, and he is trustworthy."
