when I said, "And where does this stand in relation to what is upon me, O Messenger of Allāh?" the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) took it, turned it on his tongue, and then said, "Take it and fulfill their rights with it."

"The most beloved food to Allāh is that upon which many hands partake." It was narrated by Abū Yaʿlá al-Mawṣilī in his "Musnad" (p. 115/1), Abū al-Ḥasan al-Sukkarī al-Ḥarbī in the "Second" of "al-Fawāʾid" (160/2), Abū al-Qāsim ibn al-Jarrāḥ al-Wazīr in the "Seventh of the Second of al-Amālī" (13/1), and Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (2/96) from ʿAbd al-Majīd ibn Abī Rawād from Ibn Jurayj from Abū al-Zubayr from Jābir as marfūʿ. And from this chain, it was narrated by Ibn ʿAdī (253/2) who said, "This ḥadīth is not preserved, although Ibn Abī Rawād is cautious in the ḥadīth of Ibn Jurayj." I say: Ibn Jurayj and Abū al-Zubayr are known for tadlīs and have narrated with ʿanʿanah, and ʿAbd al-Majīd ibn Abī Rawād is the son of ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Rawād. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said, "He is truthful but makes mistakes," so the statement of al-Ḥāfiẓ al-ʿIrāqī in "al-Takhreej" (2/326) that "its isnād is ḥasan" is not ḥasan. Al-Mundhirī said in "al-Targhīb" (3/121): "It was narrated by Abū Yaʿlá, al-Ṭabarānī, and Abū al-Shaykh in 'Kitāb al-Thawāb,' all from the narration of ʿAbd al-Majīd ibn Abī Rawād, who has been deemed trustworthy, but there is some oddness in the ḥadīth." And I found a supporting narration from Abū Hurayrah. It was narrated by Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (2/81) from Miqdām ibn Dāwūd al-Miṣrī who said, "al-Naḍr ibn ʿAbd al-Jabbār narrated to us from Ibn Lahīʿah from ʿAṭāʾ from Abū Hurayrah as marfūʿ."
