Abū Dāwūd recorded it (2/45), and from him Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr in "al-Tamhīd" (1/149) from Ashʿath ibn Shuʿbah, who narrated to us from Arṭāh ibn al-Mundhir, who said: I heard Ḥakīm ibn ʿUmayr Abū al-Aḥwaṣ narrating from al-ʿIrbāḍ ibn Sāriyah al-Sulamī who said: "We descended with the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) at Khaybar along with those of his Companions who were with him. The owner of Khaybar was a rebellious and objectionable man, so he approached the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: O Muḥammad, is it permissible for you to slaughter our donkeys, eat our fruits, and strike our women? The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) became angry and said: O Ibn ʿAwf, mount your horse and announce: Verily, Paradise is not permissible except for a believer and gather for prayer. So they gathered, and then the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) prayed with them, then stood and said: " and he mentioned it. This chain is good, if Allāh wills. Ashʿath ibn Shuʿbah, al-Dhahabī said: "Abū Zurʿah and others said he is lenient, and Ibn Ḥibbān strengthened him. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Najdah, Aḥmad ibn al-Saraḥ, and a group narrated from him." I say: And this ḥadīth was narrated from him by Muḥammad ibn ʿĪsá, who is Ibn Najīḥ al-Baghdādī, and he is trustworthy and a jurist. And Arṭāh ibn al-Mundhir is trustworthy. And Ḥakīm ibn ʿUmayr, Abū Ḥātim said: There is no harm in him, and in "al-Taqrīb": truthful but makes mistakes. This story has also been reported from Khālid ibn al-Walīd in a similar manner with the wording: "O people, why have you hastened...," and it is part of the other book (3902).
