was narrated (7/38) through other chains, including Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ from Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah. Yazīd, about whom Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿArʿarah said: "No one was more reliable than him," and Aḥmad said: "How precise and how well-memorized he is! What an accurate ḥadīth from a truthful and precise narrator." He said: "Everything narrated by Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ from Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah, you need not worry about hearing it from anyone else; his hearing from him is old." I said: This suggests that the preserved wording from Saʿīd is indeed "Aḥad," because Saʿīd narrated it before his memory weakened. It is not undermined by the fact that ʿImrān followed him in narrating from Qatādah with the other wording. It was narrated by al-Ṭayālisī (2/139/2516). For this ʿImrān—who is Ibn Dāwar Abū al-ʿAwām al-Qaṭṭān—his memory is weak. Supporting this is the ḥadīth of Sahl ibn Saʿd who said: "Uḥud shook while the Prophet ﷺ, Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, and ʿUthmān were on it, and the Prophet ﷺ said..." and he mentioned it with the wording of Anas's ḥadīth. It was narrated by Aḥmad (5/331) with a sound chain as al-Ḥāfiẓ said (7/30) and attributed it only to Abū Yaʿlá! 4 - As for the ḥadīth of Buraydah, it is narrated by his son ʿAbdullāh from him with the wording: "He was sitting on Ḥirāʾ with Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, and ʿUthmān, and the mountain moved, so the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said..." and he mentioned it
