1 - As for the ḥadīth of Saʿīd ibn Zayd, it is narrated by ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ẓālim al-Māzinī from him, who said: "I testify concerning the nine that they are in Paradise, and if I were to testify concerning the tenth, I would not be sinful." It was said: "And how is that?" He said: "We were with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) at Ḥirāʾ, and he said: (and he mentioned it)." It was said: "And who are they?" The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmān, ʿAlī, Ṭalḥah, al-Zubayr, Saʿd, and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf." It was said: "Who is the tenth?" He said: "I am." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2/264), al-Tirmidhī (4/336), Ibn Mājah (1/61), al-Ḥākim (3/450), and Aḥmad (1/187, 188, 189). Al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth," and Ibn Ḥibbān authenticated it (2198). I say: Its chain is ḥasan, its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim except for this al-Māzinī, as Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" and a group narrated from him, and Abū Isḥāq corroborated it with Abū Nuʿaym (4/341). 2 - As for the ḥadīth of ʿUthmān, it is narrated by Abū Isḥāq from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī who said: "When ʿUthmān was besieged, he appeared above his house and said: 'I remind you by Allāh, do you know that when Ḥirāʾ trembled, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) ...'" and he mentioned it. It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (2168) and al-Tirmidhī (4/320), who said: "A ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth." And he has another route with him (4/322) narrated by Yaḥyá ibn Abī al-Ḥajjāj al-Manqarī from Abū Masʿūd al-Jarīrī from Thumāmah ibn Ḥazn al-Qushayrī who said: "I witnessed the house when ʿUthmān appeared to them ..." and he mentioned it with the wording: "Be calm, Thabīr, for indeed upon you ..."
