"worship Allāh," and he said: "Authentic according to the conditions of Muslim." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said. The wording of Ibn Ḥibbān: "Obey your Lord."

"Fear Allāh regarding prayer and what your right hands possess." It was narrated by al-Khaṭīb in "Tārīkh Baghdād" (10/169) through the route of ʿUmar ibn Ḥafṣ al-Sadūsī, who reported from ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak al-Baghdādī—freedman of al-ʿAbbās in the year nineteen—who reported from Hammām ibn Yaḥyá from Qatādah from Abū al-Khalīl Ṣāliḥ from Umm Salamah. "that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to say in his illness..." and he mentioned it, adding: "and he kept repeating it." He included it in the biography of this ʿAbd Allāh, who is not the well-known Imām Ibn al-Mubārak, and he did not mention any criticism or endorsement of him. The rest of its narrators are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs, except for this al-Sadūsī, who is trustworthy as al-Khaṭīb stated in his biography (11/216). The ḥadīth was also narrated by al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (4/235-236) through the route of Abū ʿAwānah from Qatādah from Safīnah, the freedman of Umm Salamah, from Umm Salamah, who said: "The general advice of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was: prayer, prayer, and what your right hands possess, until he was gargling it in his chest and his tongue could no longer articulate it." Its chain is authentic if Qatādah heard it from Safīnah. However, the ḥadīth is authentic, as it has a corroborating narration from Anas with al-Ṭaḥāwī and others, authenticated by al-Ḥākim and al-Dhahabī, and another from ʿAlī narrated by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (158) and Abū Dāwūd and others, and it is referenced in "al-Irwāʾ" (2178).
