Buraidah says: I heard the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) saying: and he mentioned it. This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim. Zayd is Ibn al-Ḥabbāb, and Ḥusayn is Ibn Wāqid. There is another chain from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraidah with the wording: "Truffles are a remedy for the eyes, and indeed the ʿajwah is from the fruits of Paradise, and this black seed, meaning the black cumin—which is found in salt—is a remedy for every disease except death." Aḥmad recorded it (5/346): Aswad ibn ʿĀmir narrated to us: Zuhair narrated from Wāṣil ibn Ḥibbān al-Bajalī, who narrated to me from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraidah from his father from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). This isnād consists of narrators who are all reliable according to the six [canonical collections], except that it has a subtle defect, which is that Zuhair, who is Ibn Muʿāwiyah, erred in saying: Wāṣil ibn Ḥayyān, whereas it is Ṣāliḥ ibn Ḥayyān, and this is weak. Aḥmad said about this Ṣāliḥ: "Zuhair confused his name." Abū Dāwūd said: Zuhair made a mistake in it, and Ibn Maʿīn said: "Zuhair narrated from Ṣāliḥ ibn Ḥayyān and Wāṣil ibn Ḥibbān, but he combined them as Wāṣil ibn Ḥayyān," as mentioned in "Tahdhīb al-Tahdhīb." I said: And Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd narrated it correctly, saying: Ṣāliḥ, meaning Ibn Ḥayyān, narrated to us from Ibn Buraidah with a more complete version.
