adding the word "decree" in its text. It has no basis, neither with those he mentioned nor with others whom I have mentioned. Moreover, his statement: "It was narrated by the two Shaykhs" gives the impression that the ḥadīth is in al-Bukhārī's "Ṣaḥīḥ," because that is what is meant when attributing to him without specification, especially when paired with his companion Muslim, and it is said: "the two Shaykhs." However, he only included it in "Actions of the Servants" as previously mentioned. There are many such ambiguities and others that led me, a quarter of a century ago, to critically examine it in the "first part" of it, and I had published a portion of it in some Islamic journals.
- "When one of you strikes, let him avoid the face, for Allāh created Adam in his image." It was narrated by Aḥmad (2/244): Sufyān narrated to us from Abū al-Zinād from al-Aʿraj from Abū Hurayrah, raised [to the Prophet]. This isnād is authentic according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs, but they did not include it; rather, Muslim included only the first part with the wording: "When one of you fights his brother..." It was also fully narrated by al-Ājurī in "al-Sharīʿah" (p. 314) and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Asmāʾ" (p. 290) through various chains from Sufyān with it. Then it was narrated through the route of Ibn ʿAjlān from Saʿīd from Abū Hurayrah with it. Its isnād is good. It was also narrated by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (p. 27) from Ibn ʿAjlān who said: My father and Saʿīd informed me from Abū Hurayrah, raised [to the Prophet], without the second part. It is also good. Likewise, al-Bukhārī narrated it in his Ṣaḥīḥ (5/138) from another weak route about
