therefore, the ḥāfiẓ said in "Taqrīb": "He is abandoned, and he used to practice tadlīs from the liars, and it is said that Ibn Maʿīn declared him a liar." In summary, the reliability of this ḥadīth depends on the narration of Abū Qurrah. And Allāh knows best.

"Do you know what al-ʿaḍh is?" They said, "Allāh and His Messenger know best." He said, "It is transmitting speech from some people to others to cause corruption between them." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (425), al-Ṭaḥāwī in "al-Mushkil" (3/139), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan" (10/246-247) through the route of Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb from Sinān ibn Saʿd from Anas ibn Mālik from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), who said: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is ḥasan, all its men are trustworthy, and there is a difference of opinion regarding Sinān ibn Saʿd — and it is said: Saʿd ibn Sinān — and the ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful, he has unique narrations." I say: The following ḥadīth supports it: "Shall I inform you what al-ʿaḍh is? It is slanderous gossip among people, and in another narration: slander that causes corruption among people."

It was recorded by Muslim (8/28), al-Dārimī (2/300), al-Ṭaḥāwī in "al-Mushkil" (3/138), al-Bayhaqī (10/246), and Aḥmad (1/437) through various routes from Abū Isḥāq, who said: I heard Abū al-Aḥwaṣ narrating from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) who said: Indeed, Muḥammad (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. The other narration is from al-Dārimī. Zayd ibn Abī Unaysah followed him from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ with it. It was recorded by al-Ṭaḥāwī with a good isnād.
