it is a rare narration from al-Zuhrī, not narrated from him with this wording except by Zamaʿah, and it is only known from the narration of Ibn Muḥayriz from al-Mukhdaijī from ʿUbādah. I said: All its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, except that Zamaʿah ibn Ṣāliḥ was only included when paired with others, and he is weak as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." However, the ḥadīth is authentic, as it has two other routes from ʿUbādah, one being the route of al-Mukhdaijī which Abū Nuʿaym referred to, and the other from al-Ṣunābīḥī from him. It was extracted by Abū Dāwūd and others, and it is included in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abū Dāwūd" (451, 1276). I have also found a corroborating narration from Isḥāq ibn Kaʿb ibn ʿUjrah al-Anṣārī from his father Kaʿb ibn ʿUjrah who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came out to us while we were in the mosque, seven of us, three from our Arabs and four from our freedmen. He said: What brings you here? We said: We are waiting for the prayer. He then tapped the ground with his finger, then lowered his head for a moment, then raised his head to us and said: Do you know what your Lord says? We said: Allāh and His Messenger know best. He said: He says: Whoever performs the prayers at their appointed times and fulfills their rights, has a covenant with Allāh..." the ḥadīth is similar to it. It was extracted by al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (4/225-225) and its narrators are trustworthy except for this Isḥāq, as he is of unknown status. However, he was not alone in narrating it, as it was narrated by ʿĪsá ibn al-Musayyib al-Bajalī from al-Shaʿbī from Kaʿb ibn ʿUjrah with it. It was extracted by Aḥmad (4/244). And its narrators are trustworthy except for this ʿĪsá, as he is weak but has been deemed reliable, so the chain with the combination of the two routes..
