rather, he distinguished between them in terms of catching and not catching. There is no doubt that missing all of it within the time is greater than missing most of it, and missing most of it is greater than missing a rakʿah of it. So we ask you and say: what is this attainment achieved by a rakʿah? Is this an attainment that removes sin? No one says this! Or is it an attainment that implies validity, so there is no difference whether one misses it entirely or misses all but a rakʿah of it."

- "Stand up for your master and bring him down," ʿUmar said: "Our master is Allāh," he said: "Bring him down," so they brought him down." It was narrated by Imām Aḥmad (6/141-142) from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr from his father from ʿAlqamah ibn Waqāṣ, who said: ʿĀʾishah told me: "On the day of the trench, I went out following the traces of the people, and I heard the sound of the earth behind me, meaning the sound of the earth. I turned around, and there was Saʿd ibn Muʿādh with his nephew al-Ḥārith ibn Aws carrying his shield. I sat on the ground, and Saʿd passed by wearing an iron armor with its ends protruding, and I was worried about Saʿd's ends. He passed by chanting: 'Would that a camel could reach the battle; how beautiful is death when the time comes.' I got up and entered a garden, where there were a group of Muslims, and among them was ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, and among them was a man wearing a helmet, meaning a helmet. ʿUmar said: 'What brought you here?'"
