Narrated by Abū Dāwūd (4846), al-Tirmidhī in "al-Shamāʾil" (1/221-222), and Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (140/2), and from him by al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan" (3/236) through the route of ʿAbdullāh ibn Ibrāhīm al-Madanī who said: Ishāq ibn Muḥammad al-Anṣārī narrated to me from Rabīḥ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Saʿīd from his father from his grandfather Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. I say: This isnād is very weak, and it has defects: The first: Rabīḥ is disputed, as al-Bukhārī said: his ḥadīth is rejected, and Ibn ʿAdī said: I hope there is no harm in him. The second: Ishāq ibn Muḥammad al-Anṣārī. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Unknown, only al-Ghifārī narrated from him." The third: ʿAbdullāh ibn Ibrāhīm al-Madanī is abandoned, and Ibn Ḥibbān and others accused him of fabricating, and Abū Dāwūd criticized him, saying after the ḥadīth: "A shaykh whose ḥadīth is rejected." Al-Manāwī said after mentioning the first and third defects: "Thus, al-Ḥāfiẓ al-ʿIrāqī affirmed the weakness of its isnād, and it becomes clear that the author's indication of its goodness is not sound, and even if he did not consider it good, his reliance on attributing it to its source (meaning Abū Dāwūd) while remaining silent about the subsequent clarification of the defect is poor judgment."
