and I say: however, the ḥadīth is authentic due to other supporting evidence, as it has many corroborating reports: the first is from Ibn ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) who said: "I saw the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) in the courtyard of the Kaʿbah sitting with his arms around his knees like this." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (4/179) and al-Bayhaqī (3/235), with the addition: "and Abū Ḥātim interlaced his fingers." Refer to "al-Fatḥ" (11/56). The second is from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: "I spent a night at my aunt Maymūnah's... (he mentioned his prayer, ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam, at night) and he prayed eleven rakʿahs, then sat with his arms around his knees until I could hear his breathing as he slept. When dawn became clear to him, he prayed two light rakʿahs." It was recorded by Muslim (1/528/185 — verified by ʿAbd al-Bāqī). The third is from Jābir ibn Sulaym who said: "I came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) while he was sitting with a cloak wrapped around him, with its fringe touching his feet." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (1182), Abū Dāwūd (4075), al-Bayhaqī (3/236), and Aḥmad (5/63) with two chains of narration from him. The fourth is from Abū Hurayrah. "The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) went out one day and found me in the mosque, so he took my hand and we went together until we reached the market of Banū Qaynuqāʿ ... then he returned and I was with him until we reached the mosque, where he sat and wrapped his arms around his knees...." the ḥadīth. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (1183) and Aḥmad (2/532) and its chain of narration is good
