It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (2/63), Muslim (1/66), and Aḥmad (5/152, 159, 161). As for the ḥadīth of Abū al-Dardāʾ, it was connected by Ibn Ḥibbān (10) through the route of Hishām ibn ʿAmmār, who reported from ʿĪsá ibn Yūnus, who reported from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from him. Hishām is weak in this regard, and it seems for this reason al-Bukhārī said after the ḥadīth of Zayd ibn Wahb: "It is mursal and not authentic; the authentic ḥadīth is that of Abū Dharr." The ḥadīth was mentioned by al-Suyūṭī in "al-Jāmiʿ" with the wording: "Gabriel came to me and said: Give glad tidings to your ummah..." the ḥadīth in its entirety, and he said: "It was narrated by Aḥmad, al-Tirmidhī, al-Nasāʾī, and Ibn Ḥibbān from Abū Dharr." I did not find it with this wording from any of them, nor was it recorded by al-Nasāʾī. As for Ibn Ḥibbān, I did not find it in "Mawārid al-Ẓamʾān" except from the ḥadīth of Abū al-Dardāʾ as previously mentioned, and its wording is not as al-Suyūṭī presented, nor in its entirety. Then al-Suyūṭī mentioned it with the wording of al-Tirmidhī previously mentioned, and said: It was narrated by the two Shaykhs. Yet he did not attribute it to al-Tirmidhī! Consider how much error there is in their work.
