It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (2/70), al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Sharḥ al-Maʿānī" (2/403), and Ibn Mandah in "al-Maʿrifah" (2/323/1) through the route of al-Layth ibn Saʿd from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yaḥyá al-Anṣārī—a man from the descendants of Kaʿb ibn Mālik—from his father from his grandfather. that his grandmother Khayrah, the wife of Kaʿb ibn Mālik, came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) with her jewelry and said: I have given this in charity, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to her: "he mentioned it." So he asked: Did you seek Kaʿb's permission? She said: Yes, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) sent for Kaʿb ibn Mālik and asked: Did you permit Khayrah to give her jewelry in charity? He said: Yes, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) accepted it from her." al-Ṭaḥāwī said: "This is an anomalous ḥadīth that is not established," and Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr said: "Its isnād is weak and does not constitute proof." I say: Its defect is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yaḥyá al-Anṣārī and his father, for they are unknown as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." It has another corroborating narration from the ḥadīth of Wāthilah, which has been mentioned under number (776), and I have addressed there a problem raised by some regarding the ḥadīth when the husband is authoritarian in his guardianship over his wife, so refer to it.
- "That was Gabriel who appeared to me on the side of the Ḥarrah and said: Give glad tidings to your community that whoever dies without associating anything with Allāh will enter Paradise. I said: O Gabriel, even if he steals and commits adultery? He said: Yes. I said: Even if he steals and commits adultery? He said: Yes. I said: Even if he steals and commits adultery? He said: Yes, and even if he drinks alcohol."
