(1/25) and Ibn ʿAsākir (12/240/1) from ʿAmr ibn Abī ʿAmr, the client of al-Muṭṭalib, from Saʿīd, meaning al-Maqburī, from Abū Hurayrah, as a marfūʿ ḥadīth.

- "Before the Hour, there will be tribulations like patches of a dark night. A man will wake up as a believer and end the day as a disbeliever, or end the day as a believer and wake up as a disbeliever. People will sell their religion for worldly gains." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (3/221 with the commentary of al-Tuḥfah), Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Īmān" (no. 64), al-Ḥākim (4/438-439), and al-Firyābī in "Ṣifat al-Munāfiq" (p. 66 from "Dafāʾin al-Kunūz") through various chains from Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb from Saʿd ibn Sinān from Anas ibn Mālik as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. Al-Tirmidhī said: "This is a strange ḥadīth from this perspective." The commentator said: "Al-Tirmidhī did not consider it good, but it appears to be ḥasan." And it is as he said, for Saʿd ibn Sinān was deemed reliable by Ibn Maʿīn, and that suffices. The ḥadīth has a supporting narration from Abū Hurayrah with the wording: "Hasten," which has been mentioned earlier. Another supporting narration from Ibn ʿUmar will come with the wording: "It will surely envelop," no. (1267).

- "Al-Ḥasan is from me and al-Ḥusayn is from ʿAlī." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2/186), Aḥmad (4/132), and Ibn ʿAsākir (4/258/2) through the chain of Baqiyyah, who narrated to us from Bujayr ibn Saʿd from Khālid ibn Maʿdān, who said: "Al-Miqdām ibn Maʿdīkarib and ʿAmr ibn al-Aswad came to Muʿāwiyah, and Muʿāwiyah said to al-Miqdām: 'Did you know that al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī has passed away?' Al-Miqdām turned back, and Muʿāwiyah said to him: 'Do you consider it a calamity?' He replied: 'Why should I not consider it a calamity, when the Messenger of Allāh placed him in his lap and said ...'" and he mentioned it
